(WSAZ) &#8211; The city of Hurricane has a plan to bring live entertainment to Main Street, and it starts with knocking walls down at the old fire department.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThey\u2019re working on building the stage right now,\u201d Hurricane Mayor Scott Edwards said. \u201cIt\u2019s a huge stage, and the whole thing will have a facelift. It won\u2019t look like this in just a month or so from now. It won\u2019t look anything like what you see behind me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Business owners said they\u2019re excited to see something new to draw in visitors to Main Street. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cTo get good live local music is something that I enjoy, but to actually have it right here across the street in Hurricane &#8212; that\u2019s gonna be a huge asset for Main Street,\u201d said Jimmy Belknap, owner of Belknap Dough Company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Matt Snyder, owner of Bear Wood Company, had similar thoughts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe\u2019re just giving people another excuse to come and enjoy Hurricane,\u201d Snyder said. \u201cAnd if people are coming to enjoy Hurricane, then you know that gives them a chance to, you know, stop in Bear Wood Company and shop around, and you know I hope to benefit from it for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Mayor Edwards said the possibilities are endless and he hopes the venue will give a growing community a small town feel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s listening to the bands, but it\u2019s also for fellowship of people here in the Hurricane community and all over, really,\u201d Edwards said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Hurricane resident David Boyles said, \u201cYou could actually have different genres coming in. You could have country night, and you can have whatever night you want. You could have a gospel revival night there if you wanted to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Edwards hopes the venue will entertain the community night after night with talent from near and far.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI\u2019ve already had bands contact me from sometimes a little far away, multiple counties away and they\u2019ve heard about this and they said how do we get on the list to play there?\u201d Edwards said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The mayor added that the parking lot will eventually expand to fit more cars when the venue finally opens up. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Edwards also said the venue will likely cost the city somewhere between $50,000 to $60,000, with all the labor done by the city. He said the venue should be ready soon, but the city hopes to begin using it by the spring of 2026. <\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\"><i>Copyright 2025 WSAZ.
