Scream alum Matthew Lillard<\/strong> seems to have decided what he wants his next project to be, admitting in a recent interview that he would like to star in a romantic comedy alongside Tom Cruise<\/strong>. The 55-year-old actor, who has established himself as a comedy veteran in the entertainment industry, has now set his eyes on the romance genre, with a \u201cgay rom-com\u201d<\/strong> supposedly ranking atop his to-do list.<\/p>\n While speaking with US Weekly<\/a> about his partenrship with Exact Sciences\u2019 Cologuard screening test, Matthew Lillard revealed that he wishes to explore the romantic-comedy genre in the next phase of his career.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m ready for my rom-com era. I\u2019m ready to be the boy who needs love,\u201d the Screen Actors Guild Award nominee remarked.<\/p>\n Lillard then named the stars he would like to venture the romantic genre with, stating, \u201cMy first answer is\u00a0Gillian Anderson, but my political answer is\u00a0Tom Cruise.\u201d He then explained the reasoning behind his peculiar decision, saying, \u201cI really want to say something politically supportive of the LGBTQ+ [community]. I would love to do a gay rom-com. I think the world needs a smash-hit rom-com with two beautiful men or two fantastically gorgeous women.\u201d<\/p>\n Lillard then joked about how he would need some time to physically prepare himself for such a role. \u201cI [just] need to work on my abs. If they\u2019re gonna call me, give me time.
