(NEXSTAR) \u2013 Amid intense nationwide scrutiny over its decision to take Jimmy Kimmel\u2019s late-night show off the air<\/a>, Disney announced Tuesday that it will be raising subscription prices for many of its streaming packages.<\/p>\n

Kimmel was suspended over comments<\/a> he made in the wake of the assassination of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk.<\/p>\n

Nexstar Media, the parent company of this station, announced Tuesday<\/a> it would continue to preempt the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe stand by that decision pending assurance that all parties are committed to fostering an environment of respectful, constructive dialogue in the markets we serve,\u201d Nexstar\u2019s statement read, in part. \u201cIn the meantime, we note that \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d will be available nationwide on multiple Disney-owned streaming products, while our stations will focus on continuing to produce local news and other programming relevant to their respective markets.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the wake of Disney\u2019s initial decision to pull \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!,\u201d a number of celebrities and notable figures urged viewers<\/a> to ditch their Disney subscriptions. Despite the timing, however, both celebrity.land<\/a> and Deadline<\/a> report that the decision was planned before the controversy.<\/p>\n

Disney, which did not immediately return Nexstar\u2019s request for comment, also has a long record of instituting price increases for both its programming<\/a> and parks<\/a> in the month of October.<\/p>\n

What prices are changing?<\/h2>\n

Disney+ and Hulu will go from $10.99 to $12.99; Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Select Bundle will go from $16.99 to $19.99; and Disney+ Premium, Hulu, ESPN Select Bundle Legacy will go from $21.99 to $24.99.<\/p>\n

Jimmy Kimmel to return Tuesday after Disney lifts suspension over Charlie Kirk comments <\/a><\/p>\n

The Disney+, Hulu and HBO bundles will both go up in price by $3 to $32.99 without ads and $19.99 with ads, while standalone plans for Disney+ and Disney+ Premium will go up by $2 and $3 per month, respectively.<\/p>\n

Pricing of the NFL+ plans remains the same.<\/p>\n

The new rates<\/a> take effect Oct. 21, 2025.<\/p>\n

Disney announced Monday<\/a> that it would be reinstating the late-night show after executives engaged in \u201cthoughtful conversations with Jimmy\u201d and \u201creached the decision to return the show Tuesday.\u201d<\/p>\n
