Scotty McCreery<\/a> is a father of two!<\/p>\nThe American Idol winner, 31, welcomed his second baby, son Oliver Cooke McCreery, with wife Gabi Dugal McCreery<\/a> on Thursday, Sept. 18, announcing the happy news on Instagram<\/a>. In the carousel, the proud parents shared the first photos of their newborn, as well as several pictures of their family of four.<\/p>\n“Oliver Cooke McCreery joined our family on September 18th \ud83e\udd79\ud83e\ude75,” the newly minted mom of two wrote in the caption of the joint post. “Can\u2019t imagine life without him, we love him so berry much!! \ud83e\uded0”<\/p>\n
The Rise & Fall artist first revealed that he was expecting his second baby with\u00a0his wife in May on Instagram<\/a>. In the joint post, the couple shared several pictures of themselves with their son\u00a0Merrick Avery<\/a>, 2. While McCreery and Gabi, a registered nurse, simply wore white shirts and blue jeans, the toddler was adorned navy blue sweater with the words “Big Brother” on it.<\/p>\n“A new best friend coming this fall! \ud83d\udc99\ud83d\udc99” the couple wrote in the caption.<\/p>\n
Ahead of welcoming his first baby, McCreery took fans behind the scenes of his journey to fatherhood in a new music video for his single “It Matters to Her.” The country star and his wife Gabi\u00a0became parents in October 2022<\/a>\u00a0with the birth of their\u00a0son, whom they call by his middle name Avery, and in the video \u2014 which premiered exclusively on PEOPLE \u2014 the couple shared personal photos and videos of their parenthood prep.<\/p>\n“To me, the video shows off how much of a rock star Gabi was during her pregnancy,” McCreery told PEOPLE. “It also captures how much we both enjoyed getting ready for Avery’s arrival.”<\/p>\n
The sweet clip began with a digital scrapbook and revealed that Gabi learned she was pregnant in February. It really hit me this morning,” he shared.<\/p>\n
“Honestly, it’s been emotional,” he continued. “The first time was definitely a little sad, but luckily, Avery had his best night of sleep on record so far. He slept for five hours straight, so we actually got a relatively good night’s sleep and that helped Gabi on her first day by herself with the baby, and it helped me as I was going away. I think Avery knew what he was doing!”<\/p>\n
