Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik<\/a> are navigating their own system for coparenting<\/a>, and this week, that included celebrating their daughter Khai<\/a>\u2019s fifth birthday.<\/p>\n

Hadid commemorated the moment on Instagram, where she posted a slideshow of photos taken from the birthday girl\u2019s party. \u201cCelebrating you is the Best Day Ever, every year,\u201d Hadid wrote in the caption. \u201cHappy 5th Birthday to the light of my life! You are truly everything\u2728\u2728\u26a1\ufe0f\u26a1\ufe0f\u26a1\ufe0f so lucky & proud to be your mama!!!!!!! \ud83e\uddc1 (p.s. 5 HOW ?!?)\ud83e\udd79.\u201d<\/p>\n

The post gave Hadid\u2019s followers a peek at the party, which was a relatively understated affair that seemed to take place in her backyard.<\/p>\n

Large pieces of colored construction paper were cut out to create a sign that said, \u201cKhai is five,\u201d while other decorations were themed around the character Angel from the Lilo & Stitch <\/em>franchise. Meanwhile, Khai\u2019s cake featured tiers of rainbow frosting, with the words \u201cHappy 5th Birthday Khai!\u201d written on top.<\/p>\n

While Hadid and her daughter were seen snuggling up together in a few of the photos, it turns out that Malik also took part in the festivities. It\u2019s unclear whether he hosted a separate celebration, but his involvement was confirmed after a user commented: \u201cI wish, her dad would also be there…\u201d To which Hadid quickly responded, \u201cShe was with us both on her birthday!! \ud83e\ude77.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year, the parents each made loving posts<\/a> on Khai\u2019s 4th, with Malik sharing a rare photo of him and his daughter on the beach. \u201cHappy birthday to the most important person in my life,\u201d Malik wrote. \u201cI love you more than words allow me to express, beyond proud to call you my daughter.. grateful for every second I get to spend next to you, as you become the incredible person I know you already are. Four years ago today my life changed forever and I wouldn\u2019t be the man I am today without you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Hadid shared her own post, which read: \u201cKhai- it is my life\u2019s greatest joy and pride to be your mama!!!! Thank you for the four best years of my life- you remind me to live life to the fullest every day, in the most simple & beautiful ways. Your possibilities are endless, my sweetest love !!!! \ud83e\udd84\ud83e\udeb1\ud83e\uddc1\ud83e\ude90\ud83e\udd51\ud83e\udddc\u200d\u2640\ufe0f\ud83d\udc23\ud83c\udfb8\ud83c\udfd6\ufe0f YODA BEST \ud83d\udc9a\ud83e\ude77.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an interview<\/a> earlier this year, the model got candid about her coparenting situation with Malik, following their split<\/a> in 2021. \u201cZayn and I do our custody schedules months in advance,\u201d she said. \u201cThat doesn’t mean that it doesn\u2019t change here and there, but we help each other out and have each other\u2019s backs.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added that they\u2019ve entered a new chapter of their relationship that\u2019s centered around \u201clove, and a feeling of camaraderie.\u201d<\/p>\n
