Shhhh\u2026do you hear that? It’s Cynthia Erivo’s<\/a> vibrato ringing out from the far reaches of Oz.<\/p>\n A new trailer previewing “Wicked: For Good,”<\/a> Part 2 of Jon M. Chu’s wildly popular film adaptation<\/a> of the legendary Broadway musical, dropped Wednesday morning, treating eager fans to an early look at Erivo’s newest round of gravity-defying vocals.<\/p>\n The movie, set to hit theaters Nov. 21,<\/a> sees Erivo return as Elphaba, the “wicked” witch, and Ariana Grande<\/a> back as her bubble-gum pink foil, Glinda. Over the course of the three-minute teaser out Sept. 24, the pair are seen navigating an emotionally complex relationship, as Erivo<\/a>‘s Elphaba leans into her villainized arc and takes aim at a fraudulent wizard, while Grande<\/a>‘s Glinda enjoys the spoils of sainthood.<\/p>\n Against the backdrop of several of the musical’s most famed numbers (“No Good Deed” and “For Good”), the film’s headlining stars<\/a> prove there is much story yet to tell. Unlike the Broadway show, which ends roughly where the first movie did, Part 2 will stretch<\/a> the plot further, diving deeper into the fraught relationship<\/a> shared by the opposing witches, and \u2013 from the looks of the trailer \u2013 the romantic connection between Elphaba and Prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey).<\/p>\n The decision to split the film came at the service of a fuller plot, Chu previously said, arguing that stuffing it all into one movie would have damaged the fullness of “Wicked.”<\/p>\n “As we prepared the production over the last year, it became impossible to wrestle the story of ‘Wicked’ into a single film without doing some real damage to it,” Chu wrote in a\u00a0social media post<\/a>. “As we tried to cut songs or trim characters, those decisions began to feel like fatal compromises to the source material that has entertained us all for so many years.<\/p>\n “We decided to give ourselves a bigger canvas and make not just one ‘Wicked’ movie but two!
