Jessica Chastain has spoken out after Apple TV+ delayed the release of her thriller series, \u201cThe Savant,\u201d in the wake of Charlie Kirk\u2019s assassination.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI want to say how much I value my partnership with Apple,\u201d the actress, 48, wrote on Instagram<\/a> Wednesday. \u201cThey\u2019ve been incredible collaborators and I deeply respect their team. That said, I wanted to reach out and let you know that we\u2019re not aligned on the decision to pause the release of \u2018The Savant.’\u201d<\/p>\n Chastain continued: \u201cIn the last five years since we\u2019ve been making the show, we\u2019ve seen an unfortunate amount of violence in the United States: the kidnapping attempt on Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer; the January 6th attack on the Capitol; the assassination attempts on President Trump; the political assassinations of Democratic representatives in Minnesota; the attack on Speaker Pelosi\u2019s husband; the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk; the recent shooting at an ABC affiliate station in California; and over 300 school shootings across this country.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThese incidents, though far from encompassing the full range of violence witnessed in the United States, illustrate a broader mindset that crosses the political spectrum and must be confronted,\u201d the Oscar winner said. \u201cI\u2019ve never shied away from difficult subjects, and while I wish this show wasn\u2019t so relevant, unfortunately it is. \u2018The Savant\u2019 is about the heroes who work every day to stop violence before it happens, and honoring their courage feels more urgent than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWhile I respect Apple\u2019s decision to pause the release for now, I remain hopeful the show will reach audiences soon,\u201d Chastain added. \u201cUntil then, I\u2019m wishing safety and strength for everyone, and I\u2019ll let you know if and when The Savant is released.\u201d<\/p>\n The Post has reached out to Apple for comment.<\/p>\n On Tuesday, Apple TV+ announced in a statement: \u201cAfter careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone\u00a0\u2018The Savant.\u2019 We appreciate your understanding and look forward to releasing the series at a future date.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe Savant\u201d was supposed to premiere its first two episodes on Friday, Sept. 26, with the remaining six episodes set to come out weekly. <\/p>\n The Apple TV+ app<\/a> now says the limited series is \u201ccoming at a later date.\u201d<\/p>\n Apple\u2019s official description for the series reads: \u201cThe tense and high-stakes thriller follows an undercover investigator known as \u2018The Savant\u2019 as she infiltrates online hate groups in an effort to stop domestic extremists before they act.\u201d<\/p>\n Melissa James Gibson created the show, which is based on Andrea Stanley\u2019s 2019 Cosmopolitan story<\/a>\u00a0titled \u201cIs It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?\u201d<\/p>\n Chastain, 48, plays Jodi Goodwin \/ The Savant in the show. She\u2019s also one of the executive producers. <\/p>\n The cast also includes Nnamdi Asomugha, Pablo Schreiber, Cole Doman, Dagmara Domi\u0144czyk, James Badge Dale, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley, Toussaint Francois Battiste and Michael Mosley.<\/p>\n During an interview with RadioTimes<\/a> published Tuesday, Chastain acknowledged the series connects to real-life events.<\/p>\n \u201cI hate that this show is relevant. I hate it,\u201d Chastain stated. \u201cI hate that there are mass acts of violence. But maybe through this conversation and through unearthing this darkness in society, then we\u2019re gonna work together to fix it. We\u2019re gonna work together to protect our children, to create some legislations, to put some guardrails on the things that they\u2019re seeing.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m always going to navigate from a place of hope because I do think that at our core, humanity and people are good,\u201d Chastain continued. \u201cAnd the ones who aren\u2019t are the ones who make the loudest noise. But there\u2019s more power in goodness.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cZero Dark Thirty\u201d actress also said that filming \u201cThe Savant\u201d made her \u201cmore hopeful\u201d about the troubling issues the series raises.<\/p>\n \u201cBut I always choose to live from a place of hope,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n Kirk, a 31-year-old conservative activist, was\u00a0fatally shot with a single bullet to the neck<\/a>\u00a0while speaking at an outdoor event at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10. Alleged assassin Tyler Robinson, 22,<\/a> has since been arrested and charged.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
