Jimmy Kimmel made a return to television on Tuesday night and opted against issuing an apology for the comments that led to the suspension of \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n As previously <\/span>reported<\/span><\/a> by <\/span>The Dallas Express<\/span><\/i>, Kimmel was removed from television after making insensitive comments about the assassination of Charlie Kirk, claiming that the man who shot Kirk was part of the \u201cMAGA gang.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Kimmel then <\/span>returned<\/span><\/a> on Tuesday night, seemingly <\/span>refusing<\/span><\/a> to apologize for the comments but attempting to clear the air during an emotional monologue.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI have no illusions about changing anyone\u2019s mind, but I do want to make something clear, because it\u2019s important to me as a human, and that is, you understand that it was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man,\u201d he said, per the Associated Press.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t think there\u2019s anything funny about it,\u201d Kimmel continued.<\/span><\/p>\n Kimmel proceeded to make a call to <\/span>action<\/span><\/a> for those concerned about free speech, stating that maintaining shows like these is paramount for free speech in the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThis show isn\u2019t important \u2014 what\u2019s important is that we get to live in a country that allows us to have a show like this,\u201d Kimmel said, according to NPR.<\/span><\/p>\n The comedian then thanked those who took the time to support him during his absence.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n U.S. Sen.
