\n\tRow K Entertainment has acquired U.S. distribution rights to \u201cCliffhanger<\/a>,\u201d a reimagining of the 1993 classic directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. This latest version of the live-action thriller stars Pierce Brosnan<\/a> and Lily James<\/a>.<\/p>\n \n\tThe acquisition marks Row K Entertainment\u2019s third deal out of TIFF\u00a0 since its launch in August. Its other acquisitions include Gus Van Sant\u2019s \u201cDead Man\u2019s Wire\u201d starring Bill Skarsg\u00e5rd, Dacre Montgomery, Cary Elwes, Myha\u2019la, Colman Domingo and Al Pacino; and Tom Dean and Mac Eldridge\u2019s \u201cCharlie Harper\u201d starring Nick Robinson and Emilia Jones.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cCliffhanger\u201d is currently in post-production and is slated for wide theatrical release in 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tThe film centers on seasoned mountaineer, Ray Cooper (Brosnan), who operates a luxury chalet in the Dolomites with his daughter, Sydney. According to the film\u2019s description, the story takes place \u201cduring a weekend trip with a billionaire\u2019s son, where they are targeted by a gang of kidnappers. Ray\u2019s daughter Naomi (James), still haunted by a past climbing accident, witnesses the attack and escapes. To save her family, she must confront her fears and fight for survival.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cCliffhanger\u201d was written by Ana Lily Amirpour, Sascha Penn, Mark Bianculli and Melanie Toast. Producers include Lars Sylvest of Thank You Pictures, Joe Neurauter of Supernix, Thorsten Schumacher of Rocket Science, and Neal Moritz and Toby Jaffe.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tThe acquisition was negotiated on behalf of the filmmakers by CAA Media Finance, which is representing domestic rights.
