It wasn\u2019t jokes about Trump. It wasn\u2019t a joke at all. It was him essentially saying that Kirk\u2019s murderer was MAGA, when it was clear that wasn\u2019t the case.<\/p>\n<p>In essence, he told a lie. Or as the left would say, \u201cdisinformation.\u201d Audiences found it distasteful. Local stations and later ABC and Disney decided to keep him off air because, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/18\/media\/ujimmy-kimmel-refused-to-apologize-after-charlie-kirk-outrage\/\">reportedly, he had plans to double down.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Kimmel didn\u2019t intend \u201cto blame any specific group for the actions \u2014 it was a deeply disturbed individual,\u201d he said, not mentioning the flurry of celebrations from folks online who clearly belong to the greater left.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was really the opposite of the point I was trying to make, but to some, that felt ill-timed or unclear or maybe both, and for those who think I did point a finger, I get why you\u2019re upset.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Charlie Kirk was murdered by a gunman, who hated Kirk\u2019s views. <span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But he did blame one group in order to exonerate another group. It was simply dishonest and unnecessary to the actual joke he was setting up about Trump\u2019s reaction to Kirk\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<p>The lone bright spot was Kimmel acknowledging <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/21\/us-news\/erika-kirk-gives-impassioned-tribute-at-husband-charlies-packed-remembrance-service-god-bless-all-of-you\/\">Erika Kirk forgiving the man who killed her husband<\/a>, calling it \u201can example we should follow\u2026A selfless act of grace, forgiveness from a grieving widow. It touched me deeply.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In saner times, his monologue would have started with Charlie Kirk and ended with Charlie Kirk. But, in saner times, we also wouldn\u2019t have watched a man assassinated on a college campus over his beliefs.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>At the funeral for Charlie Kirk, his wife Erika Kirk forgave his killer.  <span class=\"credit\">REUTERS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>One cannot forget Carr\u2019s role in feeding this brouhaha. He opened his big ol\u2019 mouth, made big ol\u2019 threats (\u201cwe can do this the easy way or the hard way\u201d), despite the network bigs already reportedly making decisions about putting Kimmel on ice.<\/p>\n<p>Carr ended up knocking the ball into his own goal.<\/p>\n<p>And his words \u2013 not his actions \u2013 helped build the staircase for Kimmel to stand upon and essentially declare himself a free speech martyr.<\/p>\n<p>Despite all the charges of fascism and censorship, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/18\/media\/jimmy-kimmel-digs-in-refuses-to-apologize-for-charlie-kirk-comments-after-abc-pulls-his-show-indefinitely\/\">Kimmel\u2019s show was both taken off<\/a> and brought back on air by Disney. Apparently, all it took to smooth things over were some conversations between the host and his corporate overlords. Yup, conversations, the very thing Kirk relentlessly advocated for.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>FCC Chairman Brendan Carr was rightly criticized for saying of the Kimmel controversy, \u201cwe can do this the easy way or the hard way.\u201d <span class=\"credit\">Andrew Schwartz \/ SplashNews.com<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Local broadcast groups Sinclair and <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/24\/media\/nexstar-doubles-down-on-jimmy-kimmel-blackout-says-show-wont-air\/\">Nexstar are still holding out<\/a> and not airing the show.<\/p>\n<p>However, neither Kimmel \u2013 nor his Hollywood pals, who came out in droves <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/09\/22\/celebrity-news\/jennifer-aniston-and-ben-affleck-join-400-celebs-to-condemn-jimmy-kimmel-suspension\/\">to sign a petition<\/a> to decry censorship \u2013 are true warriors for free speech.<\/p>\n<p>They are craven opportunists reacting out of fear that their cultural monopoly is being eroded.<\/p>\n<p>celebrity.land reporter Lisa Respers France turned it into a cinematic blockbuster pitting good versus evil, saying \u201cit almost feels like \u2018The Avengers\u2019\u201d because \u201cHollywood came together with the left and Jimmy Kimmel\u2019s audience, and they really kind of formed in what felt unstoppable.\u201d She said this forced \u201cnormies\u201d to acknowledge \u201cwhere this country is headed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Conversely, this episode underscores the fact that rich Hollywood types don\u2019t give a rat\u2019s behind about normies. No petitions were signed when everyday people were censored on social media for mainstream views on COVID-19 or fired from their jobs because they wouldn\u2019t take a COVID shot. Heck, Kimmel even joked that they should die.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted back in 2024 that the Biden administration pressured them to remove certain covid posts, including satire and humor.  <span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On Tuesday, Alphabet, the company which owns Google and YouTube <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/24\/opinion\/google-gives-fresh-proof-biden-admin-was-a-censorship-machine\/\">said the Biden Administration pressured them to censor<\/a> accounts, many conservative, who diverged from approved covid or election narratives. And they\u2019d be reinstating the YouTube accounts that were yanked.<\/p>\n<p>In 2024, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/08\/27\/us-news\/mark-zuckerberg-admits-biden-admin-pressured-facebook-to-censor-covid-content-says-it-was-wrong-to-suppress-hunter-laptop-coverage\/\">Meta honcho Mark Zuckerberg admitted<\/a> that the administration also pressured them to remove information about COVID, including satire and humor. He said he regrets caving.<\/p>\n<p>Where were they when <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/10\/30\/twitter-backs-down-agrees-to-unlock-posts-account\/\">Twitter locked the celebrity.land out of our account<\/a>, over our exclusive reporting on the Hunter Biden laptop.
