The streaming service confirmed the integrations this morning, and the involved companies put out releases of their own. But each of the announcements ties back to the same central point: Rekordbox, Serato, and Djay users can link their Spotify Premium accounts to access the DSP\u2019s tracks (besides both personal and editorial playlists) through the software.<\/p>\n
(Technically, those are the names of the actual DJ programs; AlphaTheta owns Rekordbox, Djay belongs to Algoriddim, and Canada\u2019s Tiny took<\/a> a majority stake in Auckland-based Serato earlier this year.)<\/p>\n With the conspicuous absence of countries in Latin America and the Middle East, these markets include the U.S., Canada, many European nations, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and Japan.<\/p>\n Of course, a bit of enthusiastic language is to be expected on Spotify\u2019s end; the newly disclosed integrations offer \u201ca seamless way to take creative control and make every set uniquely yours,\u201d per the DSP.<\/p>\n Furthermore, it was only in 2020 that Spotify pulled support for third-party DJ apps. But the above-noted companies have been closing deals with competing DSPs \u2013 chief among them Apple Music.<\/p>\n Algoriddim has apparently been leaning into an Apple partnership for a while, including launching a Vision Pro version of Djay in February 2024. On the other hand, March 2025 saw both Rekordbox and Serato confirm support for Apple Music.<\/p>\n Stated differently, in some ways, integrations appear to be a relatively new focus for leading DSPs, which are vying for subscribers against the backdrop of modest U.S. paid streaming growth<\/a>.<\/p>\n Additionally, Spotify, now offering a more appealing ad-supported tier<\/a>, has been aggressively adding Premium features as of late. Long-awaited lossless listening, which hit paid accounts<\/a> earlier in September, certainly comes to mind. And before that, August brought customizable transitions and effects<\/a> to Spotify.<\/p>\n As many will recognize, Premium therefore looks quite a lot like the \u201cSuper-Premium\u201d plan that reports have for years<\/a> suggested will carry a larger monthly charge.<\/p>\n Especially given Spotify Free\u2019s loosened restrictions \u2013 and an exec\u2019s not-so-subtle August declaration that fresh features will coincide with price increases<\/a> \u2013 it\u2019ll be interesting to see the service\u2019s pricing strategy moving forward.<\/p>\n <\/div>\nRegarding availability, the integrations are per Spotify live \u201cwithin desktop DJ software\u201d \u2013 no word yet on when a mobile expansion might arrive \u2013 in 51 markets.<\/h4>\n
However, Serato itself touted the \u201cmilestone\u201d announcement as delivering on its \u201c#1 most requested feature to date.\u201d<\/h4>\n
