Oscar winner Jessica Chastain<\/a> is speaking out against the decision to indefinitely postpone the release of her new series \u201cThe Savant<\/a>,\u201d which was set to premiere Friday on Apple TV+<\/a> \u2014 until the streaming service announced otherwise Tuesday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n A spokesperson for the company told Deadline and other outlets as much in a statement<\/a>, but didn\u2019t expound on the reasons. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cAfter careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone The Savant,\u201d said Apple\u2019s statement. \u201cWe appreciate your understanding and look forward to releasing the series at a future date.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Chastain, who executive-produced the show and stars as a top-secret investigator who examines hate groups, alluded to them on Wednesday on social media.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI wanted to reach out and let you know that we\u2019re not aligned on the decision to pause the release of The Savant,\u201d she wrote on Instagram<\/a>. \u201cIn the last five years since we\u2019ve been making the show, we\u2019ve seen an unfortunate amount of violence in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Chastain went on to cite numerous examples, including the attempted kidnapping of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer<\/a> (D-Mich.), assassination plots<\/a> against President Donald Trump<\/a> and the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk<\/a> at Utah Valley University earlier this month.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThese incidents, though far from encompassing the full range of violence witnessed in the United States, illustrate a broader mindset that crosses the political spectrum and must be confronted,\u201d the actor wrote in her post, which was accompanied by a video of her text.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI\u2019ve never shied away from difficult subjects, and while I wish this show wasn\u2019t so relevant, unfortunately it is,\u201d she continued. \u201cThe Savant is about the heroes who work every day to stop violence before it happens, and honoring their courage feels more urgent than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Political tensions across the country have reached a fever pitch in recent weeks<\/a>, with Kirk\u2019s killing prompting escalatory rhetoric<\/a> from numerous conservative pundits, lawmakers<\/a> and the president himself<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Jordan Strauss\/Invision\/Associated Press<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n \u201cThe Savant\u201d was inspired by a 2019 Cosmopolitan article<\/a> by journalist Andrea Stanley, who chronicled following the titular investigator\u2019s attempts to thwart \u201cthe next large-scale attack.\u201d In the trailer, Chastain\u2019s character warns<\/a> that \u201cinnocent Americans are going to die.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Kirk\u2019s death was captured on video by people in the crowd who had gathered to watch the late Turning Point USA founder debate students.
