Jessica Chastain<\/a> was working to promote her new series \u201cThe Savant<\/a>\u201d when Apple TV+<\/a> made a decision.<\/p>\n The streamer is postponing the show\u2019s premiere just days before the scheduled release Friday, Sept. 26.<\/p>\n And Chastain does not agree with the decision.<\/p>\n \u201cAfter careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone \u2018The Savant,\u2019<\/a>\u201d Apple TV+ had said in a statement<\/a>, per Variety. \u201cWe appreciate your understanding and look forward to releasing the series at a future date.\u201d<\/p>\n The company changed course on the series in the wake of the Sept. 10 murder of Charlie Kirk<\/a> and other violent attacks.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to say how much I value my partnership with Apple,\u201d the Oscar-winning Chastain said in an Instagram post Wednesday. \u201cThey\u2019ve been incredible collaborators and I deeply respect their team. That said, I wanted to reach out and let you know that we\u2019re not aligned on the decision to pause the release of The Savant.\u201d<\/p>\n In the show, Chastain plays Jodi Goodwin, an investigator who goes undercover and explores online hate groups to expose extremist plots and prevent terror attacks in the United States.<\/p>\n The series, from writer and showrunner Melissa James Gibson, is based on a real anonymous investigator called the Savant, the subject of the 2019 Cosmopolitan article \u201cIs It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?<\/a>\u201d by Andrea Stanley.<\/p>\n So far, \u201cThe Savant\u201d has not been given a new release date.<\/p>\n The Apple TV+ landing page<\/a> for the show says \u201ccoming at a later date<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIn the last five years since we\u2019ve been making the show, we\u2019ve seen an unfortunate amount of violence in the United States: the kidnapping attempt on Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer; the January 6th attack on the Capitol; the assassination attempts on President Trump; the political assassinations of Democratic representatives in Minnesota; the attack on Speaker Pelosi\u2019s husband; the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk; the recent shooting at an ABC affiliate station in California; and over 300 school shootings across this country,\u201d Chastain said.<\/p>\n \u201cThese incidents, though far from encompassing the full range of violence witnessed in the United States, illustrate a broader mindset that crosses the political spectrum and must be confronted,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve never shied away from difficult subjects, and while I wish this show wasn\u2019t so relevant, unfortunately it is,\u201d Chastain continued. \u201cThe Savant is about the heroes who work every day to stop violence before it happens, and honoring their courage feels more urgent than ever. While I respect Apple\u2019s decision to pause the release for now, I remain hopeful the show will reach audiences soon.
