Below, check out our track roundup for Wednesday, September 24, 2025.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h3>Florence + the Machine \u2013 \u2018One of the Greats\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>Florence + the Machine have released a new song, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ourculturemag.com\/2025\/09\/24\/florence-the-machine-share-new-single-one-of-the-greats\/\">\u2018One of the Greats\u2019<\/a>, which sprawls over seven minutes in ragged, eerie, caustically humorous fashion. It\u2019s the second single from <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ourculturemag.com\/2025\/08\/20\/florence-the-machine-share-title-track-from-upcoming-album-everybody-scream\/\"><em>Everybody Scream<\/em><\/a>. In a statement, Florence Welch said:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>I don\u2019t really know how to explain myself with this one, it was sort of a long poem about the cost of greatness. Who gets to decide what that is? Why do I even want it? Why am I never satisfied?<\/em><br \/><em>I feel like I die a little bit every time I make a record, and kind of literally nearly died on the last tour. Yet I always dig myself up to try again, always trying to please that one person who doesn\u2019t like it, or finally feel like I made something perfect and I can rest.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Early in my career, I was consistently ridiculed and derided for the bigness of my expression. I was thrust into the spotlight but also told again and again I didn\u2019t deserve it, or that because it wasn\u2019t to their taste it wasn\u2019t good. So maybe this is a 15-year outpouring of frustration. But also, a lot of the lines I just left in because I thought they were funny.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Me and Bowen from IDLES wrote it in one take. He played the guitar and I just sang it straight from the page. We meant to re-record it but the first take just had this amazing energy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Then Aaron Dessner helped us take it to a truly transcendent place. I wanted it to feel like you were disintegrating into nothing at the end. Which is sometimes what the creative process feels to me. RXK Nephew]<\/h3>\n<p>Courting have recruited Rochester rapper RXK Newphew for a frenetic, noisy track called \u2018rollback freestyle\u2019, from the deluxe edition of Courting\u2019s latest album <em>Lust for Life, Or: \u2018How To Thread The Needle And Come Out The Other Side To Tell The Story.\u2019 \u201c<\/em>Hardly just a deluxe, but an inversion \u2013 this release is an attempt to add new layers to the dual thematics of <em>\u2018Lust for Life(\u2026)\u2019<\/em>, by twisting original songs into new beasts entirely, through either doubling up the processing, or stripping it back altogether,\u201d Sean Murphy O\u2019Neil explained. \u201cSongs written in bedrooms are now opened up and collaborative, whereas songs written on stages are re-interpreted from outside perspectives. The cycle continues forever, though.
