Andrew Kolvet, the executive producer of \u201cThe Charlie Kirk Show,\u201d said Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> should have apologized for his on-air comments about Charlie Kirk\u2019s<\/a> murder.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cWhen someone like Jimmy Kimmel says the shooter of Charlie was MAGA, what he\u2019s really saying is that it\u2019s OK to lie about conservatives, that their lives don\u2019t matter, that his political agenda and cultural agenda is more important than the life of my friend, who was just taken from us and robbed from us,\u201d Kolvet said Wednesday on Fox News\u2019 \u201cAmerica\u2019s Newsroom.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Kimmel returned to \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d on Tuesday night after ABC suspended the show \u201cindefinitely\u201d last week due to Kimmel\u2019s comments in his Monday monologue, where he said that the \u201cMAGA gang\u201d was \u201cdesperately trying to characterize\u201d Kirk\u2019s alleged shooter \u201cas anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n When Kimmel returned Tuesday night<\/a>, he said, through tears, it was \u201cnever\u201d his intention to make light of Kirk\u2019s murder.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cNor was it my intention to blame any specific group for the actions of … it was obviously a deeply disturbed individual,\u201d Kimmel said. \u201cThat was really the opposite of the point I was trying to make, but I understand that to some that felt either ill-timed or unclear or maybe both. And for those who think I did point a finger, I get why you\u2019re upset. If the situation was reversed, there\u2019s a good chance I would have felt the same way.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n It\u2019s still unclear if Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old suspected of killing Kirk while the conservative activist was speaking on campus at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10, had any political agenda. Shell casings found at the scene refer to anti-fascism, but they could be a reference to a popular video game<\/a>. Investigators have not linked<\/a> Robinson to any left-wing group, despite President Donald Trump and other conservatives<\/a> saying the shooter was a part of the \u201cradical left.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Kolvet also criticized Kimmel\u2019s tears in a social media post Wednesday morning<\/a>, writing that the host only got emotional \u201cbecause he almost torched his entire career.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cKimmel is an unrepentant liar who tried to blame Charlie\u2019s assassination on the part of the country that just spent the last 2 weeks praying and holding vigils,\u201d Kolvet wrote. \u201cWhat he\u2019s really saying is that he still thinks it\u2019s fair game to slander conservatives.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cHe would rather advance his own political and cultural agenda than confront the truth. The truth is that his own side has been fanning the flames of political assassinations for years,\u201d Kolvet continued. \u201cThe truth is that someone on the left picked up a gun and murdered someone on the right who advocated for peaceful debate. It\u2019s critical that liars admit they lied. There can be no restoration without that. Anything short of that is a fake and scripted cry line designed to endear him to his fans, not to make right the wrong he committed.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Kimmel\u2019s reps did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n More than 400 celebrities signed a letter condemning the suspension of Kimmel\u2019s show, calling it a \u201cdark moment for freedom of speech<\/a>.\u201d Many critics said that the suspension was a First Amendment violation because Trump\u2019s FCC Chair Brendan Carr hinted<\/a> at punishing Disney, which owns \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d network ABC, with regulatory action for the host\u2019s remarks. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Even Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), a staunch Republican and Trump supporter, criticized the move, saying it set a dangerous precedent. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cGoing down this road, there will come a time when a Democrat wins again.
