Dino Saluzzi \u2013 El Viejo Caminante<\/em> (ECM Records, 2025)<\/p>\n On El Viejo Caminante<\/a><\/em> (\u201cThe Old Wanderer\u201d), bandoneon maestro Dino Saluzzi reunites with his guitarist son Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Saluzzi and Norwegian guitarist Jacob Young for an exquisite, intimate, virtuosic, cross-generational and deeply captivating trio session. The musicians brilliantly combine Argentine folk, tango<\/a>, jazz, and personal reflection in this superb, quietly expressive set.<\/p>\n The project grew from duo concerts by Young and Jos\u00e9 in Argentina in 2022. After hearing the pair in Buenos Aires, Dino invited Young back the following year to record as a trio. \u201cIt fills me with jo<\/em>y,\u201d Saluzzi said of the project, adding that the musicians\u2019 different approaches produce \u201csomething beautiful<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n The repertoire spans originals, revisited pieces, and standards. Young contributes \u201cDino Is Here,\u201d a portrait piece that leans toward tango\u2019s flexibility, with a modal center designed to give the bandoneon space. Dino revisits early works, including \u201cTiempos de ausencias\u201d and \u201cY amo a su hermano,\u201d and presents the title track as a solo feature.<\/p>\n
