Emma Watson<\/strong> has opened up about her relationship<\/strong> with Harry Potter<\/strong><\/a> author J.K. Rowling<\/strong>. She stressed that even though they differ on transgender rights, she still values the personal bond they once shared. More than a decade after the franchise ended, Watson reflected on Rowling\u2019s recent comments and her own approach to navigating painful disagreements.<\/p>\n In an interview on the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast<\/a>, Emma Watson addressed her ongoing rift with J.K. Rowling, who has publicly criticized her and co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint for supporting trans rights. Rowling recently declared she would never forgive the actors and claimed their stance had \u201cruined\u201d the films for her.<\/p>\n Despite those remarks, Watson emphasized that her personal history with Rowling remains important. \u201cI really don\u2019t believe that by having had that experience, and holding the love and support and views that I have, means that I can\u2019t and don\u2019t treasure Jo and the person that I had personal experiences with,\u201d she explained. \u201cI will never believe that one negates the other.\u201d<\/p>\n She added that her deepest wish is to continue loving people even when they hold opposing views. \u201cIt\u2019s not so much what we say or what we believe, but very often how we say it,\u201d Watson said. \u201cThat\u2019s really important and that\u2019s really frustrating and not what you want to hear when you\u2019re really angry and upset with someone.\u201d<\/p>\n Watson, who was only 11 when she first played Hermione Granger, admitted the Harry Potter experience shaped her expectations of the film industry. Spending 12 years with the same group created a sense of community she hoped to replicate in Hollywood. However, she confessed the reality outside Hogwarts was far harsher. \u201cI came to work looking for friendship, and that was a very painful experience for me outside of Harry Potter,\u201d she said. \u201cIt broke me.\u201d<\/p>\n Though Watson has not appeared in a film for six years, she hasn\u2019t closed the door on returning. \u201cI\u2019ll always be an actor.
