Peter Friedlander<\/a>, the former head of scripted U.S. and Canadian television at Netflix<\/a>, has been hired at Amazon MGM Studios<\/a> as head of global television. He will enter the role on Oct. 6.<\/p>\n

Having left Netflix in August after nearly 14 years at the streamer, Friedlander serves as the successor to Vernon Sanders<\/a>, who stepped down as the TV boss earlier in September.<\/p>\n

Friendlander first joined Netflix in 2011 as director of the original series team before ascending to a vice president position and later becoming the leader of his department. During his time there, he helped oversee some of Netflix\u2019s early hits, such as \u201cHouse of Cards<\/a>\u201d and \u201cOrange Is the New Black<\/a>,\u201d as well as its current tentpoles, like \u201cWednesday,\u201d \u201cMonster<\/a>\u201d and \u201cBridgerton<\/a>.\u201d Previously, Friedlander was an executive at Tom Hanks\u2019 production company Playtone<\/a>.<\/p>\n
