Bon Jovi and William \u201cCount\u201d Basie were the inaugural inductees.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/pix11.com\/news\/local-news\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:More Local News;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\"> More Local News <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI really do appreciate you inducting me, along with the great Count Basie, who is the original Monmouth County rockstar,\u201d said Bon Jovi, while accepting his award.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWe wanted to pick two people that really are legacies and icons of this community,\u201d said Adam Philipson, CEO and president of the Count Basie Center for the Arts. \u201cJon has had such an unbelievable presence here and always continues to come back. And Count Basie is our namesake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Bon Jovi acknowledged how far the center has come. \u201cThis theater has grown and it has grown and it has grown,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Musician T.S. Monk unveiled the plaque for Count Basie, and wants anyone who passes by the plaques to remember what\u2019s possible. \u201cGreat things can happen anywhere, anywhere in this country,\u201d said Monk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><i>Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
