LOUISVILLE, Ky. (KCTV) – Kansas City Royals legend George Brett will be honored later this year by one of the most influential brands in baseball.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, Louisville Slugger announced that the former Royals third baseman and Hall of Famer will be the recipient of the Living Legend Award this year.<\/p>\n
Brett, who is Kansas City\u2019s all-time leader in hits, RBI, and home runs, and who went into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999, will be given the award on Nov. 13 during a ceremony in Louisville.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m incredibly honored to be named this year\u2019s Living Legend,\u201d Brett said. \u201cLouisville Slugger bats were a part of my career from the very beginning, and it means a lot to be recognized by a place that\u2019s so deeply tied to baseball\u2019s history.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Living Legend Award began in 2007 and has been awarded to a list of baseball\u2019s greats that includes Hank Aaron, Ozzie Smith, Cal Ripken Jr., Tony Gwynn, Ken Griffey Jr. and more.<\/p>\n
To commemorate his honor, Louisville Slugger said it will release a special collector\u2019s bat, a replica of the T85 model the Royals legend swung during the majority of his 21-year career. The bat, which will be autographed by Brett, will be priced at $499.99 and include two tickets to the award event.<\/p>\n
