Leonardo DiCaprio<\/a><\/strong> recently shared how his ex-agent wanted him to change his name<\/strong>. During a podcast to promote his new film, One Battle After Another<\/a>, he recalled the early days of his career when his agent didn\u2019t think he would get hired because his name was \u201ctoo ethnic.\u201d<\/p>\n The Titanic<\/a> star and his co-actor, Benicio del Toro, appeared on Jason<\/a> and Travis Kelce\u2019s<\/a> podcast to promote their upcoming film.<\/p>\n When Leonardo DiCaprio was asked on the New Heights<\/a> podcast about the early days of his career that still stood out to him, he recalled his very first agent wanting to change his name.<\/p>\n \u201cI finally got an agent. They said, \u2018Your name is too ethnic,\u2019\u201d the Academy Award winner recalled. \u201cI go, \u2018What do you mean? It\u2019s Leonardo DiCaprio?\u2019 They go, \u2018No, too ethnic. They\u2019re never going to hire you. Your new name is Lenny Williams.\u201d<\/p>\n DiCaprio continued, \u201cI said, \u2018What is, what is Lenny?\u2019 I was 12,13. I said, \u2018What is Lenny Williams?\u2019 \u2018We took your middle name and we made it. Now you\u2019re Lenny.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n The Don\u2019t Look Up actor then recalled showing the headshot with his stage name to his father. \u201cAnd my dad saw this photo, ripped it up, and he said, \u2018Over my dead body,\u2019\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n Adding to the lighthearted anecdote, Benicio del Toro<\/a> also shared a similar incident when his agent wanted to call him \u201cBenny Del.\u201d<\/p>\n Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson<\/a>, One Battle After Another also features Sean Penn<\/a>, Teyana Taylor<\/a>, Regina Hall<\/a>, and Chase Infiniti<\/a> in prominent roles. It is a black comedy action thriller inspired by Thomas Pynchon\u2019s 1990 novel Vineland.<\/p>\n The film centers on Bob (DiCaprio), a former revolutionary who is living off-grid with his daughter, Willa (Infiniti).
