Asheville was one of several western North Carolina towns ravaged by the destructive force of Hurricane Helene<\/a>, which damaged structures and upended lives in September 2024.<\/p>\n A piece of recovery effort, which is ongoing but will take years to complete, is being documented in one of the longest-running reality television home improvement series.<\/p>\n Season 47 of \u201cThis Old House\u201d follows five Asheville families rebuilding around the Beacon Village neighborhood in Swannanoa after the storm.<\/p>\n The first episode, called \u201cCarolina Comeback,\u201d<\/a> will air Thursday, Sept. 25, at 8 p.m. ET, according to the \u201cThis Old House\u201d website.<\/p>\n Throughout the season, \u201cThis Old House\u201d will document how affected families faced \u201ccatastrophic flooding and winds that destroyed their mountain homes.\u201d<\/p>\n Viewers will see the family’s initial storm preparations, the hurricane\u2019s aftermath, and the beginning of the rebuilding.<\/p>\n \u201cWe made it out alive,\u201d said Allie Bourdy, whose 1927 bungalow will be restored.<\/p>\n The first two episodes can be seen on local PBS stations and through DirecTV, Dish, Spectrum, Hulu, Sling, AT&T U-Verse, Suddenlink, and YouTubeTV.<\/p>\n Viewers are advised to check their local TV\/streaming listings<\/a> for episode information.<\/p>\n Episodes will also be available to stream on Roku starting Monday, Sept. 29, the series website said.<\/p>\n PBS has featured North Carolina on its network over the years.<\/p>\n Vivian Howard, the acclaimed North Carolina chef and television host<\/a>, was featured on two popular series: the Peabody Award-winning \u201cA Chef\u2019s Life\u201d and \u201cSouth by Somewhere.\u201d<\/p>\n The popular PBS series \u201cAntiques Roadshow\u201d <\/a>visited Raleigh twice, most recently in 2023.<\/p>\nHow to watch This Old House series<\/h2>\n
