Mariah Carey<\/a> is known to wear her heart on her sleeve \u2014 in her music and in daily conversation. And as she\u2019s gearing up for her new album Here for it All, the Grammy-winning powerhouse is opening up about the events that led up to the project.<\/p>\n In an interview with Gayle King<\/a> on CBS Mornings that aired on Wednesday, September 24, Carey spoke with King about the death of her mother Patricia<\/a>, and her sister Alison \u2014 both of whom died on August 24, 2024. Carey had long been open about her complicated relationship with her family, however, she revealed that she and her mother were on good terms before her passing.<\/p>\n \u201cI don’t know how I processed it,\u201d Carey said. \u201cI just know that it was extremely difficult for me to navigate and it was tough because I have always had an interesting relationship with my mother.\u201d<\/p>\n COMPLEX SHOP:<\/b> Shop the brands you love, anytime and anywhere. She also noted that she hadn\u2019t seen her sister in years before she died. \u201cI feel really badly about that as well, but that’s \u2018cause I tend to have a guilt complex about everything, but it’s tough. My sister had an extremely hard life.”<\/p>\n When asked by King if she felt she had made peace with her mother, Carey responded: \u201cI do, she said a couple of things to me that were very healing for what I needed and I felt that that was the right thing to do.\u201d<\/p>\n Fans can expect Carey to lay it all out on the table on Here for it All, which marks her 16th studio album.
