Creator Brad Ingelsby has once again returned to TV for those with an <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/hbo-max-subscription-know-price-130351204.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:HBO Max subscription;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">HBO Max subscription <\/a>thanks to the new miniseries, <em>Task<\/em>. While I&#8217;ve been enjoying the first few episodes, I&#8217;ve got to admit that the show&#8217;s signature accents are just making me think of <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/television\/2570845\/kate-winslet-reaction-to-snl-mare-of-easttown-parody-bowen-yang-titanic-parody\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:the Mare of Easttown SNL sketch;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">the <em>Mare of Easttown<\/em> <em>SNL<\/em> sketch<\/a> from a few years back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/tv\/articles\/critics-seen-mark-ruffalo-task-065846006.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Task is getting a ton of praise;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\"><em>Task<\/em> is getting a ton of praise<\/a>, with Ingelsby once again crafting a compelling narrative with outstanding actors&#8230; who happen to be using a Pennsylvania accent. While the cast is really nailing their dialect work, I unfortunately can&#8217;t stop thinking about the way <em>SNL<\/em> spoofed it with their<em> Mare of Easttown<\/em> sketch. And as such, the new series has been bringing some unintentional comedy to my living room.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\">I Keep Laughing At Task&#8217;s Accents Thanks To SNL<\/h2>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Those with a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tech.yahoo.com\/streaming\/articles\/peacock-subscription-plans-price-included-140420036.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Peacock subscription;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\">Peacock subscription<\/a> can re-watch the <em>SNL<\/em> episode that spoofed <em>Mare of Easstown<\/em>, which aired back in 2021. The sketch was hilariously called &#8220;Murdur Durdur,&#8221; and pokes fun at the Pennsylvania accent that&#8217;s used by Kate Winslet and the rest of the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/television\/2565898\/mare-of-easttown-cast-where-youve-seen-the-hbo-actors-before\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Mare of Easttown cast;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \"><em>Mare of Easttown<\/em> cast<\/a>. It was pretty spot-on, so when <em>Task<\/em> premiered weeks ago, it took a while for me to watch without thinking of the way <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em> spoofed this unique accent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">As a reminder, you can re-watch that sketch below. Rather than being filmed live, it&#8217;s a digital short, allowing for the show to look and feel similar to <em>Mare<\/em>. That is, until the Wawa hoagies started showing up at the crime scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The story and format of <em>Task<\/em> is different, but it&#8217;s hard not to feel the connective tissue between Ingelsby&#8217;s two HBO dramas. Some fans are hoping to see a crossover with <em>Mare<\/em>, while other are simply glad to have another prestige miniseries on the network. But, am I the only one one getting distracted by the <em>Task<\/em> accents thanks to <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em>?<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">This might just be a me problem, considering how much pop culture content I watch and write about thanks to being here at CinemaBlend. Or it simply shows just how memorable <em>SNL<\/em>&#8216;s <em>Mare of Easttown<\/em> spoof ultimately was. Indeed, I&#8217;ve been quoting it for years now. Hopefully the sketch comedy series will follow this tradition and offer its take on <em>Task<\/em> after the season is completed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><em>Task<\/em> airs new episodes Sundays on HBO, and streaming on HBO Max as part of the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/television\/2025-tv-premiere-date-schedule-upcoming-new-returning-shows\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:2025 TV schedule;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">2025 TV schedule<\/a>. Only time will tell if it ends up being as successful as <em>Mare<\/em>, and if a crossover for Brad Ingelsby&#8217;s shows actually happens.
