ITV marked its 70th anniversary on Monday<\/a>. The Telegraph\u2019s list of ITV\u2019s 70 greatest shows<\/a> over the years was read by thousands, and many of you also shared your favourites that were missed from our list.<\/p>\n A nostalgic experience for many, readers like Karen Sandler had \u201cforgotten just how good ITV used to be. I watched many of these programmes.\u201d<\/p>\n Clare Gibson also commented that \u201cDespite limited channels when most of these [programmes] were made, the quality, whether script, acting or production, remains outstanding and so very memorable!\u201d<\/p>\n Notably, a number of readers disagreed with Coronation Street<\/em> being number one in our list.<\/p>\n Shirley Ann Bowles \u201cwatched it for years\u201d, but feels that the \u201cshow is not what it was.\u201d However, Paul Wild concedes \u201cit is there through longevity and history.\u201d<\/p>\n Many also argued that Poirot <\/em>should be higher up the list (we ranked it at 67). Penny Fretwell \u201cwould have put Poirot <\/em>and Rumpole <\/em>above Blind Date<\/em>. Both should have been much much higher. Midsomer Murders<\/em> should have replaced Blind Date<\/em>!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWell that was an enjoyable romp through memory lane, and there were a few real gems amongst them. In no particular order for me, The Sweeney, The Saint, Callan, The Prisoner, Thunderbirds, The Avengers, Rising Damp<\/em>, and a few more. 7up <\/em>has to be the most remarkable TV documentary ever.
