Josh Brolin will lead the cast of Mister.<\/p>\n
The Weapons actor will take the lead role in the upcoming action-comedy, which will mark the directorial debut of ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ and ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’ second unit and action director Wade Eastwood.<\/p>\n
The film follows a man who wakes up covered in blood in a strange house and figures out his true identity when he has to fight off contract killers from his past – including his best friend and former partners – before teaming up with his estranged daughter in a bid to get out.<\/p>\n
Wade said in a statement: \u201cHaving the opportunity to collaborate with Josh is everything I could have hoped for.<\/p>\n
“His presence and gravitas define Mister and bring the film to life in every way. What excites me most about this project is the depth of the characters and complexity of their relationships, which allows me to build action around story, without ever losing the intensity the genre demands.\u201d<\/p>\n
Principal photography will begin in Spain early next year, with additional casting currently underway.<\/p>\n
Josh will also serve as producer through his own Brolin Productions, as will Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, Nicki Cortese – who wrote the script with Nick Inglis – and Wayne Marc Godfrey for Bright White Light.<\/p>\n
The 57-year-old actor was most recently seen in Zach Cregger’s Weapons and he previously praised the horror movie for offering something fresh away from the “boring” output on streaming platforms.<\/p>\n
Speaking with Collider, he said: \u201cYou\u2019re looking for great filmmakers, and you\u2019re hoping that there\u2019s another new good filmmaker out there.<\/p>\n
\u201cRight now, with so much content, you\u2019re just watching things on whatever streaming service you\u2019re on, and you\u2019re just going, \u2018F***, why is this so boring, man? Why?\u2019 And just go to the next thing. It\u2019s all the same s***.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd then somebody not only takes the horror genre, but then f**** with it and then does something on the edge of absurdity, and it\u2019s sort of humorous, so it\u2019s keeping you off-[balance] enough for him to have an emotional impact.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Avengers: Endgame star added he \u201creally liked\u201d Cregger\u2019s 2022 horror movie Barbarian, though couldn\u2019t quite understand why he enjoyed the film until he spoke with his daughter and his son-in-law to get a younger perspective on the director\u2019s work.<\/p>\n
He explained: \u201cYou talk to that era of people, and, I mean, he\u2019s like a god to them. And I\u2019m like, \u2018Okay, so they\u2019re reacting to something that I may not understand.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cI would rather not understand it and do business with that guy and understand it better later. And I think that Weapons is a much more refined version of something that he had his finger on the pulse of with Barbarian.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
