Now, in a new TIME cover story<\/a> published Thursday, September 25, the Boss is hitting back.<\/p>\n After Springsteen\u2019s fiery speech in Manchester<\/a> earlier this year, the 79-year-old POTUS blasted him as \u201chighly overrated\u201d on Truth Social and even posted a meme of himself smacking the rocker with a golf ball. Back in May, during the opening night of his European tour in Manchester, he paused the show to call the Trump administration \u201ccorrupt, incompetent and treasonous.\u201d That moment, captured onstage and later released as part of a live EP, lit up headlines worldwide.<\/p>\n Within hours, Trump fired back online.<\/p>\n When fans and reporters pressed Springsteen about the jabs days later, he smiled but declined to comment<\/a>. His remarks to TIME now arrive just weeks before the release of Deliver Me From Nowhere, the Jeremy Allen White\u2013starring biopic<\/a> about the making of Nebraska.<\/p>\n He\u2019s also revisiting the album itself. On October 17, Springsteen will release Nebraska \u201982: Expanded Edition, a four-disc box set with a Blu-Ray that finally unveils the long-rumored Electric Nebraska sessions. According to Rolling Stone<\/a>, the collection features E Street Band versions of songs originally recorded solo, along with outtakes like \u201cChild Bride\u201d (later reworked as \u201cWorking on the Highway\u201d), never-bootlegged tracks such as \u201cGun in Every Home\u201d and \u201cOn the Prowl,\u201d plus a brand-new live performance of the full album taped at Red Bank\u2019s Count Basie Theater.<\/p>\n Springsteen isn\u2019t the only star to draw Trump\u2019s ire. Over the years, the real estate mogul has lobbed insults at everyone from Taylor Swift to Meryl Streep. His most recent target? Jimmy Kimmel.<\/p>\n After Jimmy Kimmel Live! was suspended on September 17, the show returned six days later. Trump immediately seized the moment<\/a>, using Truth Social<\/a> to slam ABC, knock Kimmel\u2019s \u201cbad ratings,\u201d and even claim he\u2019d \u201ctest\u201d the network.
