A new live music series is about to make its debut in Cochrane this weekend. Found Sounds, the first of a five-part series, opens Saturday night at Found Books and Shop with Calgary singer-songwriter Eric John.<\/p>\n
John will perform tracks from his latest album A Punch of Colour, while also taking part in a conversational-style performance where he\u2019ll share the stories and inspirations behind his songs.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re kind of going for something in between the Tiny Desk vibe and MTV Unplugged,\u201d said Seth Anderson, President of Blue Willow Entertainment, which is producing the series. \u201cWe want to give people an opportunity to get to know the artist and the inspiration for creating their work.\u201d<\/p>\n
The intimate concert will also feature local artist Devin Foster as the opener.<\/p>\n For Blue Willow\u2019s Mackenzie Walsh, who lives in Bragg Creek, the venue itself adds to the magic. \u201cIt\u2019s such a cool space,\u201d said Walsh, Director of Media and Artist Relations.<\/p>\n \u201cYou know it as a bookstore, but when Julia Lutchman [the owner] transforms the back room, it feels like this tiny desk experience. It\u2019s an intimate listening room where the music really connects.\u201d<\/p>\n The Found Sounds series will continue in the coming months, highlighting singer-songwriters from Calgary and the surrounding area. Walsh confirmed that at least one of the upcoming headliners will be a well-known Cochrane artist.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve worked with hundreds of artists in the Calgary area, and the local scene is always growing,\u201d said Anderson, who lives in Redwood Meadows. \u201cEvery time we think we\u2019ve met everyone, 10 more artists pop up. That\u2019s what makes projects like this so exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n
