Heather Dubrow<\/a> <\/strong>and Terry Dubrow<\/a> <\/strong>have always been interested in real estate. The Real Housewives of Orange County<\/a> star has shown her tremendous passion for designing and decorating luxury homes<\/a> on the show. And who wouldn\u2019t buy a pent house apartment in LA just for sexy time?<\/p>\n But the reality TV star couple also invested in a real estate opportunity in the hopes of making a huge return. Unfortunately, in one instance, they were dealing with a swindler and got scammed big time. Heather spoke about what she learned from the experience during a recent episode of her and Terry\u2019s shared podcast.<\/p>\n On their Between Us podcast, the couple explained how they were supposedly cheated out of $2 million. by someone posing as an accountant. They found out that the man they trusted with their money had little more experience than a \u201ctax prep guy.\u201d And he was linked to a \u201ccriminal enterprise.\u201d<\/p>\n It happened at a time earlier in their careers. However, Heather was already making \u201ca lot of money\u201d acting. And Terry\u2019s plastic surgery practice was well established.<\/p>\n \u201cWe were making a lot of money doing our thing, investing, and we had someone in our life, who we thought as a CPA, who was vetted from very high level people, so we didn\u2019t vet him,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n Heather continued, \u201cHe got Terry involved in this scam and it was about renting out these apartments that were then going to be leased out for the World Cup and then make all this money. So we ended up losing about $2 million dollars and it turned out to be a scam, the whole thing.\u201d<\/p>\n It was a learning experience for the RHOC favorite, who then took the reins on the couple\u2019s finances. Nowadays, it\u2019s only return on investments for this duo. Heather and Terry agreed that \u201ccompounding interest\u201d is a winning tool in their portfolio.
