Pete Davidson<\/strong><\/a> has always had his mom in his corner, especially through the ups and downs of his sobriety journey.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s been the most supportive ever,\u201d he said on the Tuesday, September 23, episode<\/a> of the \u201cThis Past Weekend With Theo Von\u201d podcast. \u201cIt got to a point where she called me when I was in rehab and she was like, \u2018My biggest fear is that I will turn on the news and see that my son has died.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Davidson, 31, has long been open about his struggles with mental health and addiction. Us Weekly<\/em> confirmed in August 2024 that the comedian had paused his stand-up tour<\/a> to check into a wellness facility to focus on his mental health. He previously spent time in rehab to address substance abuse and has dealt with PTSD and borderline personality disorder.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s so supportive and just wants to always have positivity around,\u201d Davidson added about his mother, Amy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The comedian grew close with his mom, Amy Waters, and his sister, Casey Davidson, after his father, Scott Davidson, who was a New York City firefighter, died in service during the September 11th attacks. In fact, Pete\u2019s 2020 film The King of Staten Island is a tribute [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

When Von, 45, mentioned that Amy had already lost someone she loved, Pete replied, \u201cexactly.\u201d (Pete\u2019s dad, Scott<\/strong>, was a firefighter who died in the September 11 terrorist attacks.)<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd that f***ing killed me,\u201d he admitted. \u201cSo, like, I was like, \u2018All right, you can\u2019t die until she\u2019s dead at least.\u2019 My mom\u2019s the most supportive person in the world. She\u2019s a cool lady. The best.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pete added that he considers himself \u201ca lucky guy\u201d to have such a supportive family behind him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a really supportive, cool family that has never asked me for anything. And they should [and] they could and they don\u2019t, and a lot of them need stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tPete Davidson\u2019s mom, Amy Davidson, shared a heartfelt tribute to her late husband, Scott, a firefighter who died in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York City. \u201cHappiest days of my life and I didn\u2019t know it,\u201d Amy wrote alongside various throwback photos in an Instagram post on [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Though Pete said he wishes he had done so sooner, he is happy to be sober<\/a> now as he prepares for parenthood with girlfriend Elsie Hewitt<\/strong><\/a>. Hewitt, 29, announced she was pregnant via Instagram<\/a> on July 16, sharing a carousel of photos that included a sonogram.<\/p>\n

She captioned the post, \u201cWelp now everyone knows we had sex.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn other relationships or when I was a drug addict and, you know, very mentally deranged \u2026 like, that was my goal,\u201d he told Von of fatherhood. \u201cLike, I need to have a kid. I need to get married, like, because that\u2019s how I grew up. All my aunts and uncles got married at, like, 21. And they knew each other since grammar school. And they had three kids by 26. \u2026 But I was so not ready.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cBut there was no f***ing way that that was possible. And I almost think that\u2019s why it didn\u2019t happen, because I was like, \u2018I need to do this. I have to do this.\u2019 And no one wanted to do that with me. But I think I knew that. And that\u2019s why it was like, I stopped dating and I was like, \u2018I need to f***ing get better.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
