The fifth season of the hit series \u201cOnly Murders in the Building\u201d has new murders, new suspects and new music \u2014 including a song co-written by David Archuleta.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, Archuleta, who was the \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d runner-up in 2008, shared with fans that he co-wrote an original song for the popular Hulu series that stars Martin Short, Steve Martin and Selena Gomez as an unlikely trio of crime-solvers.<\/p>\n
\u201cSuper proud of this one!\u201d the singer shared in a post on X. \u201cAnd it\u2019s one of my favorite shows :)\u201d<\/p>\n
Archuleta\u2019s songwriting credit appears at the end of the third and fourth episodes of the new season.<\/p>\n
The song, called \u201cWish You Were Me,\u201d appears to be tied to the self-absorbed character Althea (Beanie Feldstein) \u2014 now going by \u201cThe\u201d for short \u2014 a former friend of Mabel (Gomez) who is now a pop star living in the same apartment building as Mabel and her fellow amateur detectives-turned-friends.<\/p>\n
During the fourth episode, a high-tech robot, acting as the building\u2019s new doorman, tells Mabel and Oliver (Short) that Althea has been the most downloaded artist for 13 weeks in a row with her new hit (which, in the third episode, serves as her ring tone when her therapist calls).<\/p>\n
In a condescending manner, Althea then asks Mabel: \u201cHow\u2019s your little podcast going?\u201d<\/p>\n
Before Mabel can respond, the robot interjects, \u201cTheir listens are 24% lower than their Season 4 teaser,\u201d as Oliver (Short) gives it a little kick.<\/p>\n
Archuleta released the EP \u201cEarthly Delights\u201d \u2014 his first new music in five years \u2014 in August, and is currently on tour.<\/p>\n
Earlier this month, the former longtime Murray, Utah, resident returned to the Beehive State for a show at Salt Lake City\u2019s The Complex.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
