Taylor Swift might not be performing at the Super Bowl after all. According to some sources, the Tortured Poets Department singer declined the opportunity.<\/p>\n
Rumors of the superstar<\/a> headlining Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, Calif., first circulated when Swifties noticed some apparent easter eggs in her appearance on her fiance Travis Kelce\u2019s podcast New Heights.<\/p>\n More from StyleCaster<\/strong><\/p>\n Rob Shuter\u2019s #ShuterReport<\/a> Substack reported that the Super Bowl deal fell through because the NFL underestimated her.<\/p>\n \u201cShe wasn\u2019t asking for favors, she was asking for respect,\u201d a music executive reportedly dished. \u201cTaylor knows her worth. She knows the kind of ratings she brings, the global attention she commands. She wasn\u2019t about to hand that over for free.\u201d<\/p>\n Heavy <\/a>reported that Swift required the rights to full ownership\u00a0of her performance, as well as advertising slots during the game in which she could promote her own projects.<\/p>\n \u201cShe wanted a deal that reflected her value,\u201d a source said, adding that Swift \u201cdoesn\u2019t need the Super Bowl. However, \u201cthe Super Bowl absolutely needs her.\u201d They stressed, \u201cWithout Taylor, it\u2019s just another halftime show.\u201d<\/p>\n Super Bowl headliners don\u2019t get paid <\/a>for the performance. Instead, their income comes as a set of exposure since streams and album sales usually skyrocket as a result. \u201cThey expect the biggest artists in the world to do it for \u2018exposure.\u2019 Taylor Swift doesn\u2019t need exposure. Some people found the number 60 is a reference to Super Bowl 60, and that if you look deeper, the mascot for the San Francisco 49ers is none other than Sourdough Sam.<\/p>\n Another number that was brought up was the number 47. Swift playfully responded to Travis\u2019 brother\u2019s enthusiasm by saying, \u201cThank you for screaming for, like, 47 seconds for me.\u201d She also mentioned the number again when she was describing the number of countries she visited while on her record-breaking Eras Tour: \u201c47,000.\u201d (In reality, it was 21.) Fans snooped on which Eras Tour show was her 47th stop, and mindblowingly, it was at Levi\u2019s Stadium.<\/p>\n NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Taylor is \u201cwelcome\u201d to perform the Super Bowl halftime show and teased that a show for next year\u2019s game is \u201cmaybe\u201d in the works. \u201cWe would always love to have Taylor play,\u201d Goodell said.<\/p>\n As for who might replace Swift as a frontrunner for the Super Bowl, Page Six<\/a> reported Adele is currently in talks to perform at one of America\u2019s biggest stages. She expressed interest in the Super Bowl when Rihanna performed in 2024. \u00a0\u201cLast year I went, obviously I didn\u2019t go for the football at all,\u201d she told her fans.
