It\u2019s a subject ODUMODU likes to reference in his music, but padded here with some of his best singing, it makes for a fine run-up to the debut album expected in October. \u2013 EE<\/p>\n<h3>Cool&amp;Black (Jay Jody and Blaklez) &#8211; \u201cGemstones\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cGemstones\u201d is jazzy beats, soulful raps, and an impossible amount of swagger, delivered by some of the newest, rarest duo to emerge from South Africa. <span data-lab-font_weight=\"font-weight-bold\" class=\"font-weight-bold m-font-weight-bold\">Blaklez<\/span> sets the scene, his flow conversational, like he\u2019s sitting you down to spit knowledge. \u201c<span data-lab-italic=\"italic\" class=\"italic m-italic\">False prophet, read the passage right \/ can\u2019t keep us in the dark \u2018cause we emerge at night<\/span>,\u201d he raps, dropping pop culture nuggets for anyone paying attention. <span data-lab-font_weight=\"font-weight-bold\" class=\"font-weight-bold m-font-weight-bold\">Jay Jody<\/span>, the other half of <span data-lab-font_weight=\"font-weight-bold\" class=\"font-weight-bold m-font-weight-bold\">Cool&amp;Black<\/span>, cleans up the scene with meticulous precision, dissecting life\u2019s overlooked moments like a detective with a lie detector. He rap-sings, exposing his heart for anyone willing to peek. \u201c<span data-lab-italic=\"italic\" class=\"italic m-italic\">It\u2019s bad enough that you guys are ill-advised, so do not fight<\/span>,\u201d he cautions, his words landing like obedient masses on a straight line.
