Mexico<\/a> City. When tickets sold out in a matter of minutes, additional dates were added, bringing the total to five shows. The concerts \u2014 scheduled for Sept. 27-28, Oct. 1-2, and Nov. 13 \u2014 made Zo\u00e9 the first Spanish-language rock band to achieve such a feat at the venue, which has a capacity of 65,000 people and has hosted megastars such as Shakira, Metallica, Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney, and Coldplay. The band will also perform at the Pulso GNP Festival in Quer\u00e9taro on Oct. 25.<\/p>\n\n\tAnd the band\u2019s current streak of success goes beyond their five sold-out stadium shows. The quintet \u2014 which also includes bassist \u00c1ngel Mosqueda, keyboardist Jes\u00fas B\u00e1ez, and guitarist Sergio Acosta \u2014 has released two new singles in recent weeks, \u201cCampo de Fuerza\u201d and \u201cRexsexex,\u201d reaffirming their commitment to creating music together. Both tracks showcase a revitalized band with their signature blend of powerful guitars and mystical lyrics, a hallmark of their 30-year career.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cWe don\u2019t know exactly when we\u2019ll return with a new album and tour. For now, it\u2019s just these two tracks,\u201d Guardiola says. \u201cIn the case of \u2018Rexsexex,\u2019 we were excited about the idea of creating something new. Le\u00f3n [Larregui] came up with the title. The song didn\u2019t exist. We brought it to life and ended up recording two tracks while taking advantage of our time in the studio together.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tThe drummer notes that it was thrilling to reunite with his bandmates to create music without the pressure of a formal project. \u201cWe\u2019ve never had the freedom to work on just one or two songs before. We always felt the pressure of finishing a complete album.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tCraig Silvey (known for his work with Arcade Fire and Arctic Monkeys), who had previously produced Zo\u00e9\u2019s albums Aztl\u00e1n<\/em> (2018) and Sonidos de Karm\u00e1tica Resonancia<\/em> (2021), was also behind the production of the two new songs. \u201cEverything has been surprisingly genuine,\u201d Larregui says. \u201cIt sounds like the early Zo\u00e9, but very fresh.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\tTheir new show will partly focus on their iconic 2006 album Memo Rex Commander y el Coraz\u00f3n At\u00f3mico de la V\u00eda L\u00e1ctea<\/em>, which will reach its 20th anniversary next year. The LP includes some of the band\u2019s biggest hits, such as \u201cNo Me Destruyas,\u201d \u201cV\u00eda L\u00e1ctea,\u201d and \u201cPaula.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\t\u201cMemo Rex<\/em> was an album that marked a before and after for the band,\u201d Larregui recalls. \u201cIt\u2019s the most emblematic record, full of hits. The audience received it so warmly, and that\u2019s when the \u2018Zo\u00e9mania\u2019 began.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\tWhile fans await news of a potential commemorative Memo Rex<\/em> concert or a new album next year, Larregui is planning to release a solo LP, and Mosqueda and B\u00e1ez will continue working on their project Astronom\u00eda Interior.<\/p>\n\n\t\u201cIt was wonderful to work on new songs,\u201d Larregui says. \u201cIt was about rediscovery, awakening, and a revival for Zo\u00e9.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
