A legendary rapper, actor and producer from the Bay State will be working in Shrewsbury in October.<\/p>\n
Mark Wahlberg will film scenes for his upcoming movie, Weekend Warriors, near Grafton Street in the Central Massachusetts town on Oct. 8, according to Mark Fitzgerald, a location manager who spoke on behalf of Apple Studios.<\/p>\n
Fitzgerald told the town\u2019s select board about Wahlberg\u2019s new movie during its Sept. 23 meeting<\/a>.<\/p>\n The select board approved closing the area near 708 Grafton St. from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 8 for the filming.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a great story,\u201d Fitzgerald said to the board. \u201cMark plays a long-haul trucker whose son has autism, and they do a bunch of road trips to bond. They go to all the NBA arenas.\u201d<\/p>\n The film is based on a German movie called Weekend Rebels, which tells a similar story, but revolves around soccer instead of basketball, according to Weekend Warrior\u2019s IMDb<\/a> page.<\/p>\n Born in Dorchester, Wahlberg is known for his music career as the leader of the hip-hop group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.
