Pete Davidson<\/a> has been open about the ups and downs of his sobriety journey over the years. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n The <\/span>\u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d<\/span><\/a> star recently revealed during an appearance on Theo Von\u2019s podcast that he is now sober, thanks to a life-altering conversation with a family member. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n The \u201cBupkis\u201d actor said that in the past, he had a tendency to self-sabotage in relationships.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cAnybody that\u2019s actually loved me and cared about me has gotten the worst wrath from me,\u201d he said on Von\u2019s podcast, called \u201cThis Past Weekend,\u201d<\/a> earlier this week.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Eventually, the 31-year-old\u2019s mom, whom he called \u201cthe most supportive person in the world,\u201d even had to get real. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cIt got to a point where she called me when I was in rehab and she was like, \u2018My biggest fear is that I will turn on the news and see that my son has died,\u2019\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThat, fucking \u2015 that killed me,\u201d he said. \u201cSo I was like, \u2019Alright, can\u2019t die until she\u2019s dead at least.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Since Davidson\u2019s father died in the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks and his mother has already experienced so much heartbreak, he told Von he\u2019d \u201chave to be a fucking sociopath to not get my shit together.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Now, the comedian is celebrating over a year of sobriety and preparing to welcome his first child<\/a> with his girlfriend, model Elsie Hewitt. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Though Davidson admitted he wished he \u201chad more time\u201d as he\u2019s only been sober for a bit, he said that he\u2019s still \u201cvery grateful that it happened now\u201d and with Hewitt.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n 20 Years Of<\/span>Free<\/span>Journalism<\/span><\/p>\n Your Support<\/span>Fuels<\/span>Our Mission<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Your Support<\/span>Fuels<\/span>Our Mission<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
