The fallout from Sarah Ferguson<\/a>\u2019s resurfaced \u201creputational napalm\u201d emails<\/a> to Jeffrey Epstein<\/a> has led to actress Natalie Dormer, who portrayed her in the upcoming series The Lady, to pull out of promoting the project in response.<\/p>\n Ferguson, who publicly severed ties on her former friendship with the disgraced financier and late convicted sex offender in 2011, was revealed to have allegedly kept in touch with him after doing so and apologizing to him in emails, where she said she was trying to protect her own reputation as the Duchess of York.<\/p>\n Though she has since claimed that the emails were in response to threats made by Epstein to \u201cdestroy\u201d her family,<\/a> she is still facing backlash over their existence.<\/p>\n Now, Dormer, who is starring as Ferguson in the series, which follows the career of former royal dresser Jane Andrews, has spoken out on the controversy.<\/p>\n In a statement to Variety, Dormer said it was \u201cimpossible\u201d for her to reconcile \u201cinexcusable\u201d behavior. As a result, she wouldn\u2019t promote the project and would donate her entire salary from it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI knew portraying the script\u2019s Sarah Ferguson would require nuance. People are layered, their journeys are full of highs and lows, and as an actor, my job is to lean into those elements and bring them to life with honesty and empathy,\u201d she said.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cSince completing the project, new information has come to light that makes it impossible for me to reconcile my values with Sarah Ferguson\u2019s behavior, which I believe is inexcusable.
