Academy Award-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio<\/a> has opened up about his next project with director Martin Scorsese<\/a>, which is a film adaptation of Peter Cameron\u2019s novel What Happens at Night.<\/strong> Before this, DiCaprio and Scorsese\u2019s most recent movie together was 2023\u2019s acclaimed crime drama Killers of the Flower Moon.<\/p>\n During a recent interview with The Big Picture podcast, DiCaprio shared that Alfred Hitchcock\u2019s 1958 psychological thriller Vertigo is actually one of the reference points they\u2019re using for Scorsese\u2019s upcoming What Happens at Night movie. The classic movie was led by James Stewart and Kim Novak.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m working on a film where [Vertigo] is a reference point. Had a conversation with Marty about it,\u201d DiCaprio said. \u201cAny time you get to see and talk movies with him, it\u2019s a religious experience. But when he talks about a movie that he\u2019s still trying to figure out, he\u2019s like, you know, \u2018Each decade that movie means something different to me. Is she a ghost, or is she not a ghost? Is she there? Is he a ghost?\u2019 So yeah, there\u2019s something we\u2019re working on that\u2019s a reference to that.\u201d<\/p>\n What Happens at Night<\/a> will be directed by Scorsese from a screenplay written by Patrick Marber. Besides DiCaprio, the movie will also star Jennifer Lawrence, who previously worked with the Titanic actor on the 2021 comedy Don\u2019t Look Up. Even though Scorsese is serving as a producer on Lawrence\u2019s Die, My Love movie, the upcoming project will be the first time that the acclaimed filmmaker will be directing Lawrence. Apple Original Films is in negotiations to finance and produce the projects alongside StudioCanal.<\/p>\n \u201cThe story follows a married American couple who travel to a small, snowy European town to adopt a baby. They check into a cavernous, largely deserted hotel where they encounter an enigmatic cast of characters, including a flamboyant chanteuse, a depraved businessman, and a charismatic faith healer,\u201d reads the movie\u2019s initial synopsis (via Deadline<\/a>). \u201cNothing is quite as it seems in this strange, frozen world.
