Hollywood<\/a> has come back to the Augusta area<\/a> to film a new movie<\/a> starring a veteran of the industry.<\/p>\n Eric Roberts is starring in “The Holy Father,” an independent film and follow-up to the horror\/mystery “The Holy Ghost,” written and directed by Shravan Tiwari. Roberts is a seasoned actor with hundreds of acting credits over the years, including as Salvatore Maroni in Christopher Nolan’s epic “The Dark Knight.”<\/p>\n The Augusta Chronicle recently spoke to Roberts and Tiwari before their day of shooting in Thomson<\/a>. While the plot’s details are still a secret, the first movie was centered around a kidnapped girl who claimed she was rescued by a dead cop. “The Holy Ghost” and now “The Holy Father” are part of a trilogy, culminating in “Holy Jesus.”<\/p>\n Roberts said he plays a priest “with a twist,” describing him as very cut-and-dry, but you don’t see him coming.<\/p>\n “He’s not what you’d expect, and every time he’s going to make a left turn, he makes a right turn, and he’s fun to watch,” Roberts said. “[Referring to Tiwari] This guy has created a story that’s going to blow people’s minds.”<\/p>\n Tiwari said, when their casting director mentioned Roberts’ name, he thought she was bluffing and there was no way they could get him.<\/p>\n “You can’t be luckier than me,” he said. “It’s very kind of him to say yes to me … and the common thing that binds us is the script. Everybody likes the script.”<\/p>\n Roberts and Tiwari said they haven’t had a chance to sample the local scenery yet, but Roberts said after they wrapped filming, he planned to “drag” Tiwari out for some fun.<\/p>\n FILE – Eric Roberts attends the Global Premiere Screening of “Babylon” at Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on December 15, 2022 in Los Angeles. On Amazon, it’s about $3 to rent and $10 to buy on HD. On Apple, it’s about $5 to rent and $9 to buy.<\/p>\n Roberts is the father of actress Emma Roberts from “Nerve” and “We’re the Millers.” He also has two stepchildren.<\/p>\n FILE – Eric Roberts and his daughter, Emma Roberts.
