Prince William<\/a><\/strong> and Princess Kate Middleton<\/a><\/strong> want their children to feel better about royal life<\/a> than their uncle Prince Harry<\/a><\/strong> did.<\/p>\n

In a Harper\u2019s Bazaar<\/a><\/em> article published on Friday<\/a>, September 26, royal experts explained how William and Kate, both 43, are parenting their three kids<\/a> \u2014 Prince George<\/a><\/strong>, 12, Princess Charlotte<\/strong>, 10, and Prince Louis<\/strong>, 7 \u2014 with a different mindset<\/a> than the previous generation.<\/p>\n

Royal biographer Christopher Andersen<\/strong> told the outlet that Harry, 41, grew up feeling \u201clesser than\u201d since he was considered the spare to the heir, so William and Kate \u201care making sure that none of their children suffer that fate.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey pretty much lavish equal attention on all three, while at the same time nurturing their distinct and different personalities,\u201d Andersen said, noting that instead of being viewed as spares, \u201cthe good thing is that Charlotte and Louis can share the burden, if one wishes to call it that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Royal historian Marlene Koenig<\/strong> seconded Andersen\u2019s assessment of the Wales family<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think they\u2019re just much more hands-on parents who make sure that all of their children know they\u2019re loved and that they have a place in the family<\/a>,\u201d she told the outlet. \u201cI think they\u2019re just trying to be much more realistic parents. Even though they\u2019re raising one to be a king, [they\u2019re] making sure that all of the children know they have a place that they have support and that they\u2019re loved.\u201d<\/p>\n

Koenig added that William and Kate have \u201ctaken their time to make sure that their kids have grown up in [royalty] with a solid foundation,\u201d pointing out how the couple are \u201cshielding their children\u201d<\/a> while simultaneously \u201ceasing them into what their lives are going to be serving the crown.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harry and wife Meghan Markle<\/a><\/strong> famously left their royal roles<\/a> in 2020 amid tension with his family, and the rift only deepened<\/a> after their exit. The Duke of Sussex later titled his 2023 memoir Spare<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n
