Sherri Shepherd<\/a> recently revealed that she spent some time behind bars after believing the rapture was coming.<\/p>\n On Wednesday\u2019s episode of her talk show \u201cSherri,\u201d<\/a> Shepherd explained how her religious upbringing emphasized the prophetic end-of-the-world event, in which Jesus returns to Earth to gather all Christians to Heaven. <\/p>\n Believing the rapture was near, Shepherd reasoned that she no longer had to keep up with her bills and taxes.<\/p>\n \u201cI used to be in a religion that told me that the rapture was coming. They told us to get our house in order and I said \u2018Why?\u2019 I\u2019m not going to need a house. Where I\u2019m going I don\u2019t need those worldly possessions. So yeah, I didn\u2019t pay my bills. I didn\u2019t pay my taxes. I didn\u2019t pay my traffic tickets. Because why would I pay anything when the world\u2019s about to end?\u201d Shepherd said.<\/p>\n The former \u201cView\u201d co-host<\/a> also revealed that at the time, her car registration had been expired for two years and she had accumulated over $10,000 in unpaid parking tickets. She jokingly added, \u201cJesus don\u2019t care about no parking tickets.\u201d<\/p>\n But when the world didn\u2019t end like she believed it would, Shepherd faced repercussions. \u201cWell, the world never ended. I went to jail,\u201d she revealed. She ultimately served eight days behind bars, adding, \u201cAnd because I fell for the rapture, I became a hardened criminal.\u201d<\/p>\n Shepherd shared this personal experience after addressing a viral TikTok<\/a> video in which a South African man claimed the rapture was set to occur on Sept. 23, 2025.<\/p>\n Before admitting to her stint in jail, Shepherd told audiences, \u201cI didn\u2019t plan on being here today. I thought the rapture was going to take me up to heaven.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued: \u201cLet me tell you. I believe in the rapture, I believe it was coming.
