Sounds like Vanna White<\/a> and Ryan Seacrest<\/a> became fast friends when he took over Wheel of Fortune<\/a><\/em> hosting duties from Pat Sajak<\/a> a year ago. And friends don\u2019t let friends suffer makeup fails.<\/p>\n In an interview with People<\/a><\/em>, White says she and her new costar have a behind-the-scenes tradition before each taping, and it involves her glam appearance.<\/p>\n \u201cBefore we go out, I turn to him and say, \u2018Do I have lipstick on my teeth?\u2019\u201d White said. And Seacrest \u201cof course\u201d tells her the truth, she added.<\/p>\n White told the magazine she\u2019s impressed with Seacrest\u2019s work emceeing the long-running syndicated<\/a> game show and its newer ABC<\/a> spinoff, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve known Ryan for over 20 years, but I\u2019ve never worked with him until last year,\u201d she said. \u201cHe has great energy, and he wants to do a great job. I mean, when he first started, he goes, \u2018Look, I can never replace Pat Sajak. I\u2019m just going to go in and do the best job I can.\u2019 And that\u2019s what he\u2019s done. \u2026 The transition was flawless.\u201d<\/p>\n In particular, White highlighted how Seacrest shows off more of his personality than he has a chance to on American Idol<\/a><\/em>, the other hit TV show he hosts.<\/p>\n Especially with such a capable new costar, White said there\u2019s \u201cnot a better job\u201d than hers. My thought was, how am I going to continue working with a new person?\u201d she admitted. \u201cIt\u2019s a scary thought to bring somebody new in. And then I thought to myself, Am I ready to retire? And the answer was, in my heart, no. I still love what I do.\u201d<\/p>\n White added, \u201cPeople tell me all the time, \u2018I grew up watching you.
