NJ native Noelle Salvati\u2019s fianc\u00e9 canceled her wedding without an explanation a month before she was set to walk down the aisle \u2014 but the singer-songwriter not only moved on, she turned the heartbreak into a musical.<\/p>\n

And the show is debuting 14 years later on what was to be her wedding date.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was supposed to get married October 1st, and I was at my final dress fitting, coming back from Kleinfeld with my best friend and I walked into my apartment and realized, \u2018Oh, I haven\u2019t heard from my fianc\u00e9,\u2019 and I went to call him and his phone number was no longer in service,\u201d Salvati, 41, recalled to The Post. <\/p>\n

\u201cA day or two after that, I got an email from him calling the wedding off. It was just basically, \u2018I\u2019m calling things off on my side. I recommend you do the same.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Salvati, who had met her ex, whom she dated for three years, through a couple that lived in her building, recalled the low point of returning to the apartment they once shared after he moved out.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the closets were cleared out, all of his stuff was gone. I remember dropping to my knees,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was broken. I had a really, really hard time putting myself back together again, if I\u2019m being completely honest. And no, I never got any closure, ever.\u201d<\/p>\n

That\u2019s all changing with the premiere of \u201cSwipe Right: A New Musical<\/a>,\u201d which finds inspiration from the traumatic end to her engagement with songs like \u201cGhosted\u201d and \u201cCoward,\u201d and her post-breakup dating life.<\/p>\n

After her 2011 split, Salvati, who had never used dating apps before, entered the world of online dating, and would recount her disaster stories to her friend and fellow Hoboken resident, Michael Attanasio.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt one point Noelle was singing about a date that had gone badly, and I was like, \u2018That\u2019s really funny. Maybe we could do something talking about the ridiculousness of online dating,’\u201d said Attanasio, the show\u2019s writer.<\/p>\n

Salvati, who is still looking for Mr. Right, also penned songs for the musical \u2014 which is at the Triad Theater on the Upper West Side for one night only on Oct. 1. \u2014 about the frogs she\u2019s met on Tinder and Bumble with titles like \u201cCross Him Off the List.\u201d <\/p>\n

She recalled one of her strange encounters, with a man who claimed he was in the process of getting divorced. <\/p>\n

\u201cAfter one of our dates, he invited me back to his place to listen to some music and hang out. As he was showing me around the apartment, he casually mentioned that one of the rooms we passed was actually his ex-wife\u2019s room,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter this nonchalant remark, he told me that his ex-wife was still living with him as his roommate.\u201d<\/p>\n

In between each of the songs, actors also reveal their worst first date experiences, and one is from a woman who was with a man for a few months, until he asked an unnerving question.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe kind of mentioned very casually, \u2018I have a question for you. Have you ever thought about what it would be like to ethically source human meat?’\u201d Attanasio said.<\/p>\n

And she was like, \u2018Wait, what do you mean?\u2019 And this led to him essentially confessing that he would like to try cannibalism.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut he didn\u2019t want her to eat McDonald\u2019s,\u201d Salvati added.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
