The tragic death of Makena White, the girlfriend of PGA Tour winner Jake Knapp, was announced this week via Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cHi everyone – this is Makena\u2019s friend, writing with the heaviest heart to share that Makena passed away earlier this week,\u201d the Instagram post read.<\/p>\n White was 28, and in the time leading up to her death, she began posting about her health on her online platforms.<\/p>\n Stating that Twitter gave her \u201ccrippling anxiety<\/a>,\u201d White stepped away from the platform temporarily, only to return.<\/p>\n In June, White tweeted that she had multiple surgeries planned for the summer as she spoke about the start of the RBC Canadian Open.<\/p>\n \u201c2 cardiac & 1 vascualar surgery standing between me and watching my crush play in my home country! LTD!!!,\u201d she wrote in the post<\/a>.<\/p>\n White didn\u2019t speak more about the surgeries, but posted later in the day about her high heart rate.<\/p>\n Posting an image with US Open Golf Championship information up on her laptop, and medical personnel in the background, White wrote<\/a> \u201cWe\u2019re dialled #GolfsLongestDay\u201d then clarified in a followup post<\/a> \u201c(By dialled I mean tachycardic).\u201d<\/p>\n The post showed White\u2019s wrist monitor showing an elevated heart rate of 133 beats per minute. Tachycardia is a condition with a heart rate over 100 beats per minute, according to the Mayo Clinic<\/a>.<\/p>\n White later posted on July 24 about using a handicap stall in a hospital washroom.<\/p>\n Knapp broke his silence on White\u2019s death on Friday, sharing a statement with People<\/a> that she was \u201ca thoughtful person\u201d with \u201cselflessness toward others.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe shared so many unforgettable memories together and now that she\u2019s no longer with us, it\u2019s a tough reality to comprehend,\u201d Knapp wrote. \u201cShe had an incredible family, great friends, and her fun, outgoing energy will be missed by all of us.
