Because many TV comedies that have aged poorly (looking at you, <em>Everybody Loves Raymond<\/em>), you might be forgiven for thinking your favorite shows from yesteryear suck out loud if you tried to watch them today. That\u2019s what I was pleasantly surprised to discover <em>How I Met Your Mother<\/em> is funnier than ever before, and anyone wanting to return to the glory days of primetime comedy can now stream this legen (wait for it) dary show on Netflix.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The loose premise of <em>How I Met Your Mother<\/em> is that future Ted is narrating to his future children the tale of how he met their mother. \u201cLoose\u201d is the right word because this frame story is mostly an excuse to showcase five charismatic characters dating and partying their way around New York City. He is joined by Jason Segel\u00a0 (best known for <em>Forgetting Sarah Marshall<\/em>), who plays a law student trying to balance his studies with his personal life. Aside from drinking and getting into trouble, his personal life mostly consists of spending time with his girlfriend (Alyson Hannigan, best known for <em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.giantfreakinrobot.com\/topic\/buffy-the-vampire-slayer\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Buffy the Vampire Slayer;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">Buffy the Vampire Slayer<\/a><\/em>), an artist and kindergarten teacher who serves as the heart and soul of the group.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Another member of <em>How I Met Your Mother<\/em>\u2019s core cast is Cobie Smulders (best known for <em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.giantfreakinrobot.com\/topic\/the-avengers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:The Avengers;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">The Avengers<\/a><\/em> and other MCU films), a spunky news anchor who serves as an early love interest for Radnor\u2019s character. Rounding out the cast is <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.giantfreakinrobot.com\/topic\/neil-patrick-harris\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Neil Patrick Harris;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">Neil Patrick Harris<\/a>, who was previously best known for playing TV\u2019s wunderkind medical professional, Doogie Howser. Critics generally praised the show for its unconventional approach to storytelling and equally unconventional humor, all of which was enhanced by the chemistry of the show\u2019s very talented cast. These characters might just be television\u2019s best found family, and their nonlinear misadventures helped <em>How I Met Your Mother<\/em> take home a whopping 10 Primetime Emmys as well as a bevy of other major awards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The success of this show meant that a spinoff was inevitable, and <em>How I Met Your Father<\/em> premiered on <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.giantfreakinrobot.com\/topic\/hulu\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Hulu;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">Hulu<\/a> in 2023. It was set in the same universe as <em>How I Met Your Mother<\/em> and featured cameos from Neil Patrick Harris and Cobie Smulders, but this wasn\u2019t enough for fans who wanted to see more of the original cast. I really hated it at the time and shunned the show for <strong>years<\/strong>, but when I started <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.giantfreakinrobot.com\/topic\/streaming\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:streaming;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">streaming<\/a> it again, I discovered that <em>How I Met Your Mother<\/em> was even funnier than I remembered.
