\u201cOne Battle After Another\u201d was No. 1 at the box office on Friday, its opener, raking in $8.8 million, according to The Numbers<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Post praised<\/a> the thriller \u2014 starring Leonardo DiCaprio \u2014 calling it \u201csprawling, violent, sweaty, vulgar and invigorating.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before its release, DiCaprio sat down with Variety<\/a> and said, \u201cI would only hope that people go out to the theater and experience it the way it\u2019s meant to be seen,\u201d so the Academy Award winner got his wish.<\/p>\n

The flick, based on the 1990 novel \u201cVineland\u201d by Thomas Pynchon, is slated to take in as much as\u00a0$25 million<\/a> in total this weekend.<\/p>\n

In the second spot was \u201cGabby\u2019s Dollhouse: The Movie,\u201d with sales of $4.36 million on Friday, its premiere. <\/p>\n

Based on the popular 11-season Netflix series, the film has the show\u2019s star, Laila Lockhart Kraner, reprising her role and brings on Gloria Estefan and Kristen Wiig.<\/p>\n

The family adventure, which the New York Times said \u201cis strictly not suitable for anyone over reading age\u201d is expected to earn\u00a0$13.6 million<\/a> in total this weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Strangers: Chapter 2\u201d landed in third, with $2.2 million in revenue on its debut Friday. <\/p>\n

The second installment in the \u201cStrangers\u201d trilogy \u201cis better than the previous movie,\u201d but \u201cstill nothing special,\u201d according to Yahoo<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In fourth was \u201cThe Conjuring: Last Rites,\u201d down a notch from last week, with a $1.95 million take.<\/p>\n

The Japanese animated action flick\u00a0\u201cDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba \u2013 the Movie Infinity Castle\u201d\u00a0took fifth, down three spots from last week, with a haul of $1.81 million.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
