The San Sebastian Film Festival is wrapping up for another year, and on Saturday held its closing night gala where a host of awards were up for grabs.<\/p>\n

Among the features competing for the coveted Golden Shell award were Edward Berger<\/a>\u2019s Ballad of a Small Player, Alice Winocour<\/a>\u2019s Couture, James Vanderbilt<\/a>\u2019s Nuremberg<\/a> as well as queer drama Maspalomas<\/a> from Jose Mari Goenaga<\/a> and Aitor Arregi<\/a>, and Agnieszka Holland<\/a>\u2019s Franz Kafka<\/a> biopic Franz<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But it was Basque drama Sundays<\/a> (Los domingos<\/a>) that claimed the evening\u2019s top prize at the Spanish town\u2019s Kursaal Theater. Alauda Ruiz de Az\u00faa<\/a>\u2019s film follows the story of Ainara, an idealistic and brilliant 17-year-old whose family hopes will soon choose a university degree. However, Ainara feels increasingly closer to God and is considering embracing the life of a cloistered nun.<\/p>\n
