PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) \u2014 A Hollywood legend stopped by Portland to donate her Oscar to a local movie museum.<\/p>\n
Margaret O\u2019Brien<\/a><\/strong> was just 6 years old when she starred alongside Judy Garland in \u201cMeet Me In St. Louis.\u201d<\/a><\/strong> She appeared as Garland\u2019s younger sister, Tootie.<\/p>\n \u2018Geeks of the same realm\u2019: Tom Hanks gifts typewriter to Portland shop <\/a><\/p>\n O\u2019Brien won an Oscar in 1944 for her performance. It was a rare small Juvenile Oscar, an award also won by Garland just five years before for \u201cThe Wizard of Oz.\u201d<\/p>\n But 10 years later, it went missing. Then in 1995, it was discovered at a flea market in Los Angeles and returned to her.<\/p>\n The Juvenile Oscar won by Margaret O\u2019Brien in 1944 for her performance in \u201cMeet Me in St. Louis\u201d at Portland\u2019s Movie Madness on Sept. 27, 2025. (KOIN)<\/p>\n O\u2019Brien was at Movie Madness<\/a><\/strong> in Southeast Portland on Saturday where her Oscar was placed in a display case already filled with her movie memorabilia.<\/p>\n \u201cSometimes old treasures come back to you,\u201d she told KOIN 6 News. \u201cAnd I thought, \u2018Where am I going to put the Oscar? It\u2019s not really safe in my house. What am I going to do? Put it in the closet?\u2019 Nobody sees it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/span><\/div>\n
