While the DC series, which airs on HBO Max, has earned rave reviews in its second season, the topic of a third season remains an interesting question mark. <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mensjournal.com\/entertainment\/dcu-john-cena-peacemaker-role-initially-written-for-another-actor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:John Cena\u2019s;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">John Cena\u2019s<\/a> portrayal of the popular character has been nothing short of impressive, and DC Studios\u2019 co-CEO and director James Gunn has spoken several times about how much he loves Season 2 of <em>Peacemaker<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">So, all things considered, it\u2019s surely a no-brainer that Season 3 is a full-go, right? However, during an interview with <em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/collider.com\/peacemaker-season-3-potential-explained-james-gunn\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Collider;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Collider<\/a><\/em>, the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mensjournal.com\/entertainment\/james-gunn-drops-first-man-of-tomorrow-superman-lex-luthor-twist\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Superman director\u2019s;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Superman director\u2019s<\/a> response to the question of whether the third season is in development primarily focused on the \u201cplans for characters\u201d that extend beyond the show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Fortunately, Gunn did add that the eighth episode of the current <em>Peacemaker<\/em> season should help to answer some questions about Season 3 plans.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cIt is not [in development] right now,\u201d Gunn said. \u201c&#8230;That doesn\u2019t mean there aren\u2019t plans for these characters, but it\u2019s not necessarily Season 3 of <em>Peacemaker<\/em>. And then people should watch Episode 8 to see what happens, because maybe some of your questions will be answered in that episode by itself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Whether this means the show itself may have a conclusion this season, or something entirely different, it was an interesting response from Gunn. On a positive note, it appears that several characters from the show are likely to have roles in other upcoming projects. Considering how widespread the appreciation of Cena\u2019s work as Peacemaker is, along with the rest of the cast that meshes so well, that in itself is a win.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Here\u2019s to hoping Gunn\u2019s hint that episode eight clears the air on this topic lives up to the billing.
