Despite Prince Harry\u2019s recent reconciliation<\/a> with his estranged father, King Charles<\/a>, the Duke of Sussex is not returning to his responsibilities as a working member of the British royal family\u2026 at least, not yet.<\/p>\n A source close to Harry told Town & Country<\/a> magazine that the Duke of Sussex<\/a> has no plans to return to his role as a senior member of the British royal family after he and his wife, Meghan Markle<\/a>, stepped back from their responsibilities in 2020. \u201cThat was put to bed years ago,\u201d the insider said. \u201cHe saw his dad and yes he wants to reconcile with his family. But that doesn\u2019t mean he\u2019s going back into the institution.\u201d<\/p>\n More from StyleCaster<\/strong><\/p>\n Speculation that Harry could be a working royal came after the Daily Mail<\/a> reported that talks were underway for Harry and Charles<\/a> to make a public appearance together, with the reunion serving as an offer for Harry to \u201ctake some load off\u201d of his brother Prince William\u2019s<\/a> royal responsibilities. \u201cHarry\u2019s visit to the UK was not about trying to show up or compete with his brother \u2013 in fact, the opposite,\u201d the insider said. \u201cIt was to remind William that Harry can be there to take some of the load off, given some of the criticism William has received for carrying out a lower number of engagements than his father.\u201d<\/p>\n The insider added, \u201cThat doesn\u2019t need to be as part of the \u2018working\u2019 Royal Family. It can just be doing what he loves to do and does best \u2013 supporting causes close to them both, such as the Diana Award and conservation\u2026 More than anything, though, he wants to see his father more. He wants to make him proud and be there to support him through his treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n
